Quality Education

A high-quality early education gives children the best possible start in life.

"The highly regarded Effective Provision of Pre-School Education (EPPE) study has shown that children who attended high quality early education settings saw benefits to their literacy, language and mathematics, as well as in their social and behavioural skills. Analysis of the long-term impact has also shown that attending good quality childcare in the early years has a positive impact until the end of primary school and into secondary school."

Our Approach to Learning

Our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Through play-based, hands-on learning, children build the essential skills they need for school and life while growing in confidence, creativity and independence. Daily experiences include creative play, construction, role play, stories, music, early writing, cookery and problem-solving activities.

The Seven Areas of Learning

We support children across the seven areas of learning and development:

Communication and Language

Physical Development

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the World

Expressive Arts and Design

Together, these areas help children become confident communicators, active learners and independent thinkers.

Observation and Next Steps

Every child's learning journey is unique. We observe children as they play and plan meaningful next steps to support their progress. We share this with families so we can work together to support each child's development.

A Language-Rich Environment

Communication and language are woven throughout our day. Through stories, songs, rhymes and meaningful conversations, children are immersed in rich language experiences.

This helps children build confidence in speaking and listening, develop vocabulary and form strong foundations for reading and writing.

Learning Through Stories

At our nursery, each age group enjoys a Book of the Month that sparks learning, play and discovery. Activities, group times and play experiences are inspired by the story’s characters, themes and vocabulary.

Using familiar stories helps children build confidence, strengthen communication skills and deepen understanding through meaningful experiences, while nurturing imagination, curiosity and a love of learning through play.

EYFS Framework

Our curriculum is aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage, ensuring every child receives a broad, balanced education covering all seven areas of learning and development.

Purposeful Play

Play is the foundation of learning at Leaping Toads. Every activity is thoughtfully designed to challenge, engage, and inspire young minds

Individual Learning Plans

Each child has a personalised learning journey, shaped by their interests, strengths, and developmental needs. Our team observe, assess, and plan continuously.

Small Group Activities

Focused small group sessions allow practitioners to target specific skills, ensuring every child receives the attention and support they need to thrive.

School Readiness

We prepare children for the transition to school through structured activities that develop literacy, numeracy, social skills, and independence in a nurturing environment.

Assessment & Progress

We use ongoing observation and assessment to track each child's progress, sharing regular updates with families through our parent communication app.
